Information and advice is fundamental to enabling people to take control of, and make well-informed choices about, their own care and support and how they fund it. This creates a clear link between good information and advice and the underpinning of the ‘Wellbeing’ principle of the Act. It is also a vital component of preventing or delaying people’s need for care and support.

The Care Act aims to clarify expectations and boundaries and enshrine the principle of joint working in statute. The Care Act 2014 builds on recent reviews and reforms, replacing numerous previous laws, to provide a coherent approach to adult social care in England.
